Please tell our readers a bit about you?
My name is A’dam. Real names are Aluko Damilola, a singer and songwriter from Osun state, Nigeria. I’m currently signed under the HOUSE OF JESSE management.
As a gospel artist what challenges do you face?
As a gospel artiste, the challenge remains the fact that most people think that Gospel music meant for the church atmosphere alone. “Gospel” means “Good news” and I’m sure that any kind of music that shares good tidings should be everyone’s delight. Hence gospel music and musicians shouldn’t be “walled-up”.
Your kind of gospel is not a usual Nigeria gospel, why?
I’d like to think of my style and sound as my own unique way of expression, I guess that may be the “unusual” you are talking about. I just like to sound like me and not anyone else.
What’s the reason behind “Fire on my Tongue”?
“Fire On My Tongue” is a revelation. I was meditating on the power of the tongue and how we can speak God’s word to create our world, so I decided to do a song to that effect. The song was produced by Sammyoung (a.k.a Baba Onilu).
You do soundtracks, tell us about it?
My 1st movie soundtrack was “Eti-Keta (Third Party)” by Saheed Balogun and people really loved it. I’ve been doing movie soundtracks since then. I intend to bring in a more professional and distinct sound into our movie soundtracks.
Apart from music what other business do you do?
Other than being a singer and songwriter I’m also a music producer and computer scientist.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
By His grace, in 5 years time I see myself breaking the barriers and walls that has kept the Nigerian Gospel music from crossing big-time into the mainstream and international scene.
Words to your Fans?
I’m saying a big thank you to all my fans for supporting me. I promise to give the best quality and wholesome entertainment for their spiritual nourishment. Also my fans should watch out for my debut album soon.
