14-YEAR OLD RAPIST RAPES 9-YEAR OLD GIRL TO DEATH

A 9 years old pupil of Fulfilled Greenland School (primary 3), Ikorodu has been raped to death by the school proprietor’s son, Onyi Adimabua (14 yrs old). According to police authorities the deceased was raped over five times by Onyi Adimabua. The father of the deceased, Mr Jigo (77yrs), explained how his daughter came home one day complaining of pains around her vagina and stomach area and he had to rush her to the hospital. Not until after conducting some tests on her by the doctor that it was discovered that she was sexually assaulted.

The alarmed father then interrogated his daughter to find out the culprit and he got to learn from his daughter that it was the son of her school proprietor that raped her and threatened to kill her if she opened up to anyone about his action. The troubled father had to take her to his hometown in Ondo state after the initial treatment in the hospital for further treatment but her condition got worse. A few days later the young rapist, accompanied by his parents travelled to Ondo state to apologise to his victim’s family but on getting to the house his victim has died on that fateful day. On learning about death of the victim, the youths in the area made to lynch him (onyi) but Mr Jigo has to intervene by reporting the matter to the nearest police station and onyi had to be held there for his safety, until the next morning before he and his parents had to leave for Lagos. On his return to Lagos, Mr Jigo was visited by the rapist parents and a chief in Ikorodu urging him to refrain from pursuing the case on which he refuted.

On getting to the police station the following day to report the case, he was surprised when the officer on duty told him not to write a statement but to only write down his phone number and that he will be contacted. After waiting several days without getting any call, Mr Jigo wrote for a transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba. He was later to find out that the teenage rapist has been taken to his father in Delta State thereby stalling police investigation. The parents of the teenage rapist however described the incident as the work of the devil.

The father of the rapist, Mr Andrew Adimabua says he’s disappointed in his son and that he trained him better than that and that the son confessed to him that he learnt about sex through watching pornography movies. He says that he will provide his son for investigation and that he only wants him to recover from the pneumonia he contacted by the beating and standing under the rain on the day the girl died. Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide who confirmed the incident to our correspondent and expressed shock on the incident and says that the boy will be re-arrested.
