Exclusive: Nollywood Actor Chigozie Atuanya Takes Igbo Film To The Next Level

Chigozie Atuanya just finished shooting his first Igbo Movie this week. And as we promised, here is more information about the movie:

“The reason of my venturing into movie producing is to prove that we could actually produce a high quality Igbo movie to a cinema standard. We are losing out. Igbo is the only tribe, which has never been doing any standard or high quality movie in their local language in Nigeria. While other tribes shoot in their local language, promoting their languages, Igbo replaced Igbo movie with English movie. So, my intention is to go back to the root and set a standard. It’s also good that we have English movies as well, because that means that we have a double portion, but we should not neglect our root.

The Igbos have a lot of culture and wonderful story line, but lack better productions sometimes. I believe that if we should invest in making a standard movie in our own language just like we do with English movies, we’ll be promoting our culture and language, and that’s what I’ve come to change.

Yes. It’s a great story. The character I played is the character of Emeka who came back from America for a business meeting….  I don’t want to give everything out, but it’s a family movie, that will make you laugh from the beginning to the end. The lighting and setting of the movie is amazing.”

We had great time shooting. We didn’t encounter much problem while shooting. The only problem we had was setting the location. Once the location was set, other things went fast.

Yes as usual they should expect the best and look forward to another dimension of igbo movie in igbo language. The movie will have English subtitles for people who do not understand the language.
