While social media handles have become good means of communication and information, researchers fear that they may also be eroding the human ability to think.
Researchers believe speed, volume and ease with which information is shared through social networking sites may sites may be making it more difficult for us to think analytically+3
The research was carried out by Dr. Iyad Rahwan, an honorary fellow at the University of Edinburgh, who said that while the popular sites may appear to be making us smarter, any improvement in intelligence is merely superficial.
The computing expert studied how being part of a network of people affects how we learn.
According to the findings, while people have access to more information, their ability to think and process information has become less. People rely on social media to think for them and a lot of times information are copied from such sources verbatim because people are too lazy to think things through.
