MAN BEATS HIS LOVER TO DEATH IN ONITSHA

A 27 years old man has been arrested in Onitsha, Anambra State for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death. According to Mr Emeka Chukwuemeka, the commands Public Relations Officer, ‘‘the suspecting was trying to flee the scene after the incident when he was arrested, and a full scale investigation has been initiated to ascertain what really happened’’ he said.

An occupant of the house where the incident happened, at No. 46, Old Market Road, who spoke under anonymity, said ‘‘the suspect was in the habit of beating his girlfriend and the girl refused to quit the relationship. ‘‘it happened last night around 12:30 on Tuesday, as usual we started hearing the sound of beating and crying from corner, at a point it seems that he noticed that his lover was not responding, so with the help of his mother and some neighbours she was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead,’’ explained the witness. Following the incident some occupants of the house have fled their homes for fear of arrest by the police.
