Following the attempted jailbreak on Sunday 30th March by the detained boko haram suspects at the Abuja headquarters of the Department of State Service (DSS), Asokoro, the United Kingdom has advised its citizens resident in Abuja to be especially vigilant should they need to go to Asokoro or The Three Arms Zones in Abuja. According to the statement posted on the Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) website on Sunday read in part thus, “On the morning of March 30th, there was an incident involving exchange of gunfire within the Nigerian government compound in the Asokoro area in Abuja.
The incident was brought under control swiftly, and the Nigerian government has now confirmed that the incident is over and has declared the area safe.
We recommend that British citizens maintain heightened vigilance in Abuja, particularly after dark, and given today’s incident, to be especially vigilant should they need to go to Asokoro or The Three Arms Zones”, (NAN)
