SIX policemen attached to the Abraka police station in Delta State killed 23-year old Harrison Oritsedere, in his father’s compound, and arrested the woman that led them on the mission for misinformation.
The incident, which occurred penultimate Saturday, allegedly resulted from a misunderstanding between a woman, Mrs. Ekayomavua Oghenegweke, and a boy now said to be on the run.
Eyewitness account says the woman led the six armed policemen to the compound and pointed at late Harrison as the person she had problem with, and the police opened fire, killing him on the spot, in the presence of his father.
Incensed by the sad development, residents of Abraka community in the state protested the killing, lamenting that Harrison was a farmer in the community that is known as a hardworking and level headed youth, who does not engage in any kind of trouble with anyone.
Following the discovery that the woman misled them into killing Harrison, the police arrested her,
Late Harrison’s father, Johnbull Oritsedere, in a petition to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin City, Edo State, through a Warri, Delta State-based law firm, called on the AIG to initiate an investigation into the killing of his son. This, he said, is with a view to bringing the six policemen involved in the brutal murder and the said Mrs. Oghenegweke to justice for conspiracy.
Meanwhile, security sources said that the six policemen and the woman are billed to appear before the AIG, Zone 5, Benin City on Wednesday for questioning to ascertain their level of involvement in the dastardly act.
