Nigeria Replies US Govt on the Efficacy of Ebola Drugs

Contrary to the wide held opinion by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that trial and experimental drugs being administered in West African countries including Nigeria, on Ebola patients may lack clinical standards,  the Federal Government Friday said such comments were not helpful.

FDA had on Friday said that the “by law, dietary supplements cannot claim to prevent or cure disease.”
The agency in a statement observed that  “individuals promoting these unapproved and fraudulent products must take immediate action to correct or remove these claims or face potential FDA action.”

The statement came on the heels of the federal government’s move to promptly attend to the Ebola patients,  where it ordered Nano Silver Experimental Drugs,  which some believed have the potentials of relieving the patients.

Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu had Thursday in Abuja told journalists that an experimental drug, Nano Silver procured by a Nigerian scientist was already on the way to Lagos to be administered on Ebola patients receiving care and treatment there.
