Fahad Musana – who played for army side Simba FC – had reportedly been watching the Premier League clash in Bombo when he collapsed following the 36-year-old’s strike against his former club at the Etihad stadium.

The 23-year-old’s teammate, Gerald Bagoole, said: ‘We trained with him on Sunday morning, had lunch together.

‘When the Premier League matches commenced, he went to watch from near his residence.

‘He has been a passionate fan of Chelsea and would do anything for the club, apart from gambling.’

Musana’s death resulted in Simba pushing back their match against Soana to October.

Uganda’s football governing body expressed their sadness at the death.

‘Fufa is in shock after receiving news about the sudden death of Simba FC player Musana Fahad in Bombo this evening,’ a statement read.

‘The body is currently at the Bombo Barracks Hospital. Burial arrangements will be communicated later.’

Lampard’s 85th-minute strike salvaged a point for Manuel Pellegrini’s side against the club that he turned out for 13 years.

City had earlier gone a man down after Pablo Zabaleta was sent off for a second yellow card before Andre Schurrle scored in the 71st minute.
