Heartless thief who posed as doctor to steal from dying cancer patients jailed yesterday (Photos)

A brazen thief who posed as a doctor to steal from the bedsides of dying hospital patients before plundering their bank and credit cards, was jailed for seven years yesterday.

Heartless June Weatherman targeted elderly cancer patients in hospitals across the South of England, stealing nearly £10,000 from their accounts.

She would enter patients’ rooms and ask medical questions – pretending she was a doctor at the hospital – before stealing their purses and finding out their PIN codes.

Her victims were elderly, mostly aged in their 80s, and two – Linda Connor and Aileen Henderson – went on to die from their illnesses.

The 50-year-old woman was convicted of 15 charges of theft and fraud at her trial earlier this month.

One victim, Pameler Verrinder, 87, was being treated at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, Surrey, in September last year when Weatherman stole her bank card and used it to buy £6,322 of goods.

June claimed she had been set up and that she was being targeted because she is of mixed race.

“It’s profiling – I haven’t done nothing,” she told detectives.

Weatherman was arrested after cops released CCTV images of her seen in Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow, around the time of the thefts.
