Woman pleads guilty to allowing 16-year-old daughter to starve to death

Ebony Berry, 37, pleaded guilty to reduce charges Tuesday after being accused of starving her daughter Markea Berry, 16, to death in 2012.

A 37-year-old Georgia mother pleaded guilty Tuesday to allowing her 16-year-old special needs daughter who weighed only 43 pounds starve to death.

Ebony Berry pled guilty to manslaughter charges in a Cobb County courthouse Tuesday, reports TV Station WSB-TV in Atlanta.

Berry had been charged with murder after her daughter Markea’s 2012 death but agreed to plead guilty to the reduced sentence. She will spend the next 30 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation, the station reported.
