Steven Pratt, 45, has been charged with killing his mother in Atlantic City, two days after he was paroled from prison after serving 30 years for murder.

Pratt was out of jail for less than 48 hours before he allegedly bludgeoned his mother to death in her New Jersey home on Sunday.

Authorities say 64-year-old Gwendolyn Pratt suffered massive head injuries in a beating doled out by her ex-con son, Steven, 45, and was found dead inside her Atlantic City home at around 6:30 a.m., The Press of Atlantic City reported.

Steven Pratt was paroled Friday after serving 30 years in prison for shooting his neighbor to death when he was a teenager, the newspaper reported.

Pratt was arrested on suspicion of murder and was ordered held at Atlantic County jail on $1 million bail.

Pratt’s first stint in prison stemmed from a 1984 shooting in which authorities said the then-15-year-old blasted his neighbor in the face and shoulder after a dispute in the Carver Hall apartments.

He was tried as an adult and convicted of murder in 1986.
