4 Arrested After Miss World Contestant & Sister Disappear Four Days To Competition

A Miss World contestant has disappeared days before she was due to fly to London for the 2014 competition. Maria Jose Alvarado – recently crowned Miss Honduras – vanished along with her sister Sofia Trinidad after attending a friend’s party last Thursday according to Mirror.co.uk.

Four people, including Sofia’s boyfriend, have been arrested.

Maria, 19, and her sister had been spending time with their parents in Honduras’ crime-ridden city Santa Barbara before she was due to fly to the UK to represent her country.

Police chief Jose Coello originally said they were not treating the pair’s disappearance as a crime. But today it emerged four people including Sofia’s boyfriend had been arrested and were being questioned as the last-known people to see them alive.

Mother of both girls Teresa de Jesus pleaded last night: “Open your hearts and understand my pain.

“There is an all-powerful God that sees everything and I hope you set them free.”
