Court finds Obasanjo guilty of contempt over book launch; to rule on punishment in 21 days

An Abuja High Court sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has found former President Olusegun Obasanjo guilty of contempt, after the former leader defied the court’s directive barring him from releasing his autobiography.

Mr. Obasanjo released the new book, My Watch, Tuesday, in Lagos, days after the court order.

Justice Valentine Ashi, in a ruling Wednesday, gave Obasanjo 21 days (from the day of service of the court’s orders on him) to show cause why he should not be punished for contempt for going ahead to publish the book in spite of the ex-parte interim order made by the court on December 5 and a pending libel suit before the court involving him.

The judge restrained the former president from further publishing, printing or offering for sale, the book, My Watch, whose content touched on the subject matter before the court.

Justice Ashi also ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Director General of the Department of State Services (DG, DSS) and the Comptroller of Customs to recover the published book from all book stands, sales agents, vendors, the sea and airports and deposit them with his court’s registrar pending the determination of the substantive suit.”

For me tht zoo beast is the problem of nigeria have becos he have fail to use his sex toy and former minister Oby to destroy this present administration. That man suppose to be sentence to life in prison he suppose to be cage in the zoo where ever nigeria will visit to as him wht happen to 16bn he put on nepa and also to ask him wht happen to his bola ige and many others that was murder during his devilish rule of 8 year if the present administration have the kind of support this beast obj have am sure gen will be still be better than him obj is a cause and a disgrace to nigerians a man who sleep with his daughter in law please let him respect his old age and wait for the consequences of all his evil act because surely it will come
