
At least 35 people have been killed and 42 injured during a crush at a New Year’s Eve celebration in China.
The fatalities occurred on the Bund, a waterfront area in central Shanghai.

Sina News reports that overcrowding in Chen Yi Square on the Bund led to the stampede.
The authorities are now working to rescue the wounded.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
