Residents of Irele community in Ondo state have been hit by a deadly disease which has not been given a name.
According to reports, the victims wake up blind, with a terrible headache and die within a few hours. At least 15 people who contracted the disease are feared dead.
Ondo state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dayo Adeyanju, reported that the disease was discovered on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, but could not say or describe how the victims contracted the disease or how it can be contracted by others. He however assured that medical team are working to identify the cause of the illness and will issue a statement as soon as the investigations are concluded.
