President Muhammadu Buhari has defended his performance in the last 30 days, dismissing an assessment by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party that the president failed in his first month in office.
The party had said in a statement Sunday that since Mr. Buhari took power, Nigeria has been in a motion without movement.
The party lambasted Mr. Buhari for failing to form his cabinet after four weeks, and not outlining clear plans for the nation. It urged Nigerians to pray for the president and his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.
But in its reaction, the presidency said the Nigerian “stable” was being cleaned of filth left behind by past PDP governments.
The presidency said the effort requires scrupulous and painstaking planning, more so as the Buhari administration is “naturally contemplative of its every move”.
Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, said given that all sectors of “national life was devalued”, it would require “meticulousness and sure-footedness to repair all the breaches”.
