Floyd Mayweather may be stripped of WBO belt won in Manny Pacquiao fight on Monday

It turns out Floyd Mayweather Jr. had to do more than just beat Manny Pacquiao to hold the World Boxing Organization 147-pound championship belt. The undefeated fighter was also supposed to vacate his World Boxing Association and WBO 154-pound belts. But, according to ESPN’s Dan Rafael , the 38-year-old fighter had failed to do so, which means on Monday, he could lose the one he won in May.

If the WBO does, indeed, strip Mayweather of the 147 lbs. belt, it won’t affect his 48-0 record. Neither does it seem like Manny Pacquiao would be handed the belt.

Perhaps this is just a long set-up for a rematch. Mayweather recently reignited his beef with Pacquiao in a bizarre Instagram post, in which he made fun of Pacquiao’s shoulder injury.
