Robert Bever, the 18-year-old accused of stabbing his parents and three siblings to death in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, has reportedly given a full confession.
Bever was taken into custody together with his 16-year-old brother, who is not being identified because he is a minor, on early Thursday morning, just an hour after police received a 911 hang-up call that led them to the grisly scene.
When authorities arrived, they heard moaning inside the home and forced entry. Inside they discovered the five victims, all of whom had been stabbed to death, as well as a 13-year-old girl who was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. She is expected to recover. Another 2-year-old girl was found in the home unharmed.
Police spotted Bever and his brother running out the back door of the home as they arrived on the scene. They were chased down by a K-9 officer and arrested on suspicion of murder.
Altogether, nine people lived at the home – two parents and seven children, four boys and three girls. Both parents, David Bever, 52, and April Bever, 44, are dead, as are two of the boys, ages 12 and 7, and one of the girls, age 5. The victims were all found in different areas of the home.
On Thursday evening, officials told KTUL that they had received a full confession from Bever and said that he showed no remorse as he admitted to stabbing his mother, father and three younger siblings to death.
Authorities also told the station that Bever claimed the murders were “just the beginning” of a series of killings planned outside the family. The extent of these plans remains unclear.
At a briefing on Thursday afternoon, Corporal Leon Calhoun of the Broken Arrow police department revealed that authorities had recovered multiple weapons from the scene, including various knives and a hatchet, according to KTUL.
