A two-year-old boy may have killed his dad by accidentally shooting him in the head, police said.

The 31-year-old man was found by paramedics dead from a gunshot wound to the head inside his apartment in Hoover, Alabama, US, at 3.15pm yesterday.

Detectives believe the man’s son may have accidentally fired the gun at his father, reports the New York Daily News.

The married man, who has not yet been identified, was initially discovered by a family member when she arrived home at The Cliffs at Rocky Ridge apartments.

Speaking to AL.com, Captain Gregg Rector, of Hoover Police Department, said the woman told officers that the man had been shot accidentally.

Investigators have not found any evidence that a third person was with the man and his son, although they are still examining other possible scenarios, police said.
