Father Charged With Murder After Allegedly Squeezing Infant Son To Stop His Crying

A Washington, D.C. father admitted to police that he killed his son by violently squeezing him to get him to stop crying, according to court documents.

Robert Smith, Sr. has been charged with first-degree murder after admitting to detectives he was “a monster” who methodically squeezed Robert Smith, Jr. whenever his son was fussy or crying, according to court documents obtained by The Washington Post.

The last time was on Aug. 4 when Smith broke the infant’s vertebrae and killed him, reports The Washington Post.

“He said the child would cry a lot and become fussy, he said he squeezed the child to stop him from his crying and that he has done this over the course of the child’s life,” according to court documents obtained by ABC7 News.
