Police arrest mum after her one-year-old son is found wandering streets with knife

A mum has been arrested by police after her one-year-old son was found wandering the streets carrying a knife.

The tiny infant had been gone for an hour when his mother realised he was missing and contacted police.

Laura Pultman, 24, is charged with child endangerment for failing to supervise him.

She also faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

When they turned up to the house to begin the search, police discovered a plethora of smoking materials and controlled drugs in containers with the lids off.

The unnamed child was later found wearing just a nappy in the street in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Pultman was contacted after her one-year-old child was found but according to police didn’t raise the alarm for an hour because she had not realised he was missing.

Authorities said a similar incident occurred about two weeks earlier and was not reported to police.

Local paper the News Tribune said officers saw marijuana and drugs paraphernalia around the apartment she is said to share with her unnamed boyfriend.

According to authorities, Pultman has already been subject to supervision from Missouri Children’s Division and had previously been warned to take preventative measures to keep her child from getting out of the home.
