Mr. Femi Adesina, special adviser on media and publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari early today clarified the president’s role in the petroleum ministry.
In a statement, Adesina said the President will not be typecast like a minister, but a supervisor of the ministry.
The clarification has denied some senators itching to question Buhari on how will run the petroleum ministry, 39 years after he was appointed there, the opportunity of doing so.
The president already has a minister of state-designate for the oil ministry: Dr Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, the present Managing director of the state oil company, NNPC.
“President Buhari is not going to be designated as Minister but will supervise the Ministry…he has all it takes to supervise the ministry”, Adesina said in a tweet that has gone viral.
