The #BringBackOurGirls, (BBOG) group has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to establish the trueleadership of the Boko Haram sect before any form of negotiations is carried out with the group.
The #BringBackOurGirls group lamented that day 600 of the Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction was fast approaching without the girls being rescued from the hands of their captors.
Speaking during the sit-out of the group, one of its members Abubakar Yusuf stated that it was heart breaking that the whereabouts of the girls were uncertain after over 500 days of abduction.
He called on the military to intensify efforts in rescuing the girls adding that the end of the insurgency will not be won without the rescue of the abducted girls.
Recall that the group had called on the military to embark on new combat and intelligence strategies that will help in the rescue of the abducted school girls.
It stated that the continuous stay of the girls in captivity had not only exposed the girls to the high possibility of radicalisation, but also had denied them access to a life that guarantees their wholesomeness and opportunity to be positive contributors to development of the country.
“The prolonged unsuccessful rescue of our Chibok girls, and all other abductees, clearly continues to portray the breakdown in the social contract that binds citizens with their government,” it said.
The group however stated that it would continue to advocate for the return of the abducted girls until the girls were rescued and brought back to their families.
