Khloe Kardashian has contracted a staph infection after spending time in the hospital with ex Lamar Odom, according to US reports.

The reality star, who has never been far from the former NBA player’s bedside ever since he was rushed to hospital after being found unconscious, sparked concerns after announcing she had to pull out of her book tour due to stress.

It’s now been revealed that the Kardashian sister has a lesion on her leg which has become painful, according to TMZ. She reportedly developed a high fever, swollen glands, has intermittent chills and is sweating profusely.

Staph infections can cause disease due to direct infection or due to the production of toxins by the bacteria.

A source told the website: “It’s so scary. She’s so sick.”

Khloe Kardashian's book 'Strong Looks Better Naked'

The news comes just hours after the 31-year-old took to Twitter to apologise for taking a break from her book tour – which has seen her doing almost daily in-store appearances to promote her New York Times best-seller Strong Looks Better Naked.

“Dolls! So sorry I needed 2 re schedule my book signing. I’m sick & dr’s orders are that I need to lay low until we narrow down what’s wrong,” she wrote to her millions of followers.

She expanded on her poor health just a few minutes later saying: “Ill be going for more testing today. I’m very sorry again. Stress can run our bodies down so please everyone take care of yourselves,” accompanied with a heart emoji.
