Background

My name is Yvonne Jegede, I am an actress and a producer. I am from Edo State and I studied International Relations at a University in Cyprus.

Acting

I have always loved to act. I think it is innate because I did not attend any acting school. As a child, I wanted to be a beauty queen, but I was not tall so I jettisoned the idea. I was born into a family of entertainers.

Production

My first production idea came from a friend of mine. I had written some screen plays in the past and it propelled me to produce my own film. Although it was spontaneous, it turned out nicely. And by God’s grace, I will produce more films next year.

African Queen Video

While I was on the set of Charles Novia’s movie, Missing Angel, the director of 2face Idibia’s African Queen video requested for my contact and eventually called me. Initially, I did not like the idea because I wanted to be an actress and not a video vixen. My friends convinced me to do it and I gave it a shot.

The Idibias

Apart from the African Queen, I have not really had any close relationship with the Idibias. My relationship with them is the same I have with other people in the industry. Whoever is saying that I am not in good terms with Annie Idibia is not telling the truth.

Fame

I do not think I am famous yet. I am still a work in progress and when I get there, I will cross the bridge. Now, I have nothing to worry about. I am not even under any pressure to please people. I am always comfortable wherever I am.

Body enhancements

I did not enlarge my breasts. I could not have travelled to Cyprus to enhance my breasts. If I ever considered the idea, I could have gone to The United Kingdom or United States of America to have it done.

Competition

I do the best I can and I focus on what I have to do to remain relevant. I put in 100 per cent of my time and effort to succeed in any movie role I am given. God has also put me in the position where I am able to deliver any role almost effortlessly. I do not have any competition neither am I interested in it. I worry about myself and not any other person. I am the one that gets paid after the job is done, so I need to improve on myself.

Roles

I am not a stereotyped actress. I play any role I am given and the storyline also determines if I would accept the role or not. I do not know if people hustle for roles but I get called for jobs.

Rivalry

As long as I am cast for movies, I am not bothered about the number of jobs the next actor gets or the type of car he or she drives. I am comfortable where I am and I am not interested in any form of rivalry between actors. If people have issues with themselves, it is left to them. If they have issues with other people they work with, then they have issues generally with their lives.

Current projects

I do not have any current personal projects that I am working on. I will unveil my personal projects next year.

Relationship

I do not have any specific interest, but I do not want to marry an old man. I need to grow old with my husband. There are no special criteria. If it works, I am ready to go for it. I could choose marriage over my career because I cannot marry my career. But, I also do not want to marry a man who will not support my career.

Hobbies

I like to cook when I am not acting.

Beauty

I use a facial scrub once in a while. I have been working out as well and that has helped me trim down a bit. I like to look natural and I still want to look young and natural when I am 50 years old. I do not use any moisturisers and I wear my natural hair and nails. I haven’t permed my hair and I wear wigs on set.

Style

My style is mood-dependent. I do not have a particular routine, but that does not mean I am boring. I just go with the flow. Being spontaneous is my thing.
