A man convicted March 18 of stalking singer Ashanti has been sentenced to jail time.

Devar Hurd, 37, was sentenced to between 16 months and four years in prison after being found guilty of felony 2nd degree stalking by a New York jury.

Hurd however may not serve any more time behind bars though since he has already spent 32 months behind bars,TMZ reported Thursday, after being held without bond since 2013 after he violated a restraining order by taking a picture with Ashanti’s unknowing sister.

He was seen in court grinning on Thursday as the verdict was read.

Time served: Devar Hurd, pictured following his March 18 conviction for stalking Ashanti, has spent the past 32 months behind bars awaiting trial. That means he could be released soon despite having been sentenced to up to four years in prison

During the trial, the singer had to face a cross-examination from Hurd, who was representing himself, as he confronted her with the lewd text messages and tweets he had sent her.

Hurd, who’d previously been arrested for stalking her in 2009. claimed that the two had a romantic relationship, and the fact that Ashanti never blocked him on Twitter is proof that he was not guilty.

Besieged: 'I wish you to stop. I just wish you to stop,' Ashanti told Hurd during his trial. She's pictured in Los Angeles in February at the MusiCares gala honoring Lionel Richie

When he demanded Ashanti explain why he’s facing a felony stalking charge for tweeting gross messages to her, the singer, 35, responded: ‘You continuously tweeted over and over again disgusting, derogatory, disrespectful things to me after you had already gone to jail for doing the same thing. I wish you to stop. I just wish you to stop.’
