Shamed paedophile football star Adam Johnson sent flirtatious text messages to a woman just days before he was jailed declaring his conviction ‘a joke’.
The former England international was jailed last month for six years after being convicted of grooming and engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.
Following his conviction, Johnson was released on strict bail terms while the trial judge considered his sentence.

During this time, Johnson, 29, exchanged a number of flirty texts with a lover, discussing his future. He told the woman that he would be willing to resume his career in another country.
The former footballer, who was earning £60,000-a-week, blamed his downfall on ‘one stupid kiss’.
According to the Sunday Mirror, one text said: ‘Yeah it’s all a joke just for one stupid kiss and that’s it.’
The messages to the woman were sent at the beginning of March, while his ex-girlfriend Stacey Flounders cared for their baby daughter at home.
The woman claimed she met the footballer last summer and was in contact with him until he went to prison.
Johnson is understood to want to keep in contact with several women by letter while he serves his sentence and plots his appeal.
The shamed footballer is currently in Armley prison in Leeds where is is believed to be earning £11.50-a-week working in the gym.
Court officials have confirmed Johnson’s legal team has already lodged an appeal against his conviction.
On the Adam Johnson’s Appeal Fight page on Facebook, a writer thought to be the player’s sister Faye wrote: ‘Appeal Against Conviction lodged!
