The TV host and comedian made it clear he’s not stopping Carey from getting married again — but says it’s not as simple as just signing the dotted line on the divorce papers.
“I wish it was that easy where you can just sign something and say, ‘Oh, I’m done,’ but it’s a lot of things that go with that that are beyond my control,”Cannon told Entertainment Tonight while sporting a pair of $2 million diamond-encrusted shoes.
Rumors have been circulating that Cannon was holding things up and keeping the “Heartbreaker” singer from marrying billionaire fiancé, James Packer.
“Like Nah! That’s clearly not the case,” he said. “Who made that up? Who put that out there?”
Carey, 46, and Cannon, 35, married in 2008 and filed for divorce in 2015. The couple has a pair of twins, 5-year-old Monroe and Moroccan.
“The only thing that’s important to me is my children. I want what’s best for them. I believe my ex feels the exact same way,” he told ET.
