Britain’s third richest man dies at 64

Billionaire landowner and Britain’s third richest man the Duke of Westminster has died at the age of 64.

Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor died on Tuesday afternoon at the Royal Preston Hospital in Lancashire.

A spokeswoman said he had become ill suddenly on his Abbeystead Estate.

He was the 6th duke of Westminster with a £9billion fortune – money made from his estates in Oxford, Cheshire, Scotland, Mayfair and Belgravia.

The father of four is believed to have been staying at his grouse shooting his estate in Lancashire.

His third child and only son Hugh, who is just 25, will inherit the entire estate including Eaton Hall, the family seat in Cheshire.
