Donald Trump sparked fresh criticism of his leadership ability on Thursday after he claimed Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton founded Islamic State .
The billionaire businessman previously attacked the President and his Democratic rival for how the United States pulled out of Iraq after the war, claiming it helped create the militant Islamist group.
The Republican presidential nominee told a conference in Miami: “I call President Obama and Hillary Clinton the founders of ISIS. They’re the founders.”
Trump first made the assertion in a speech Wednesday night in Florida. He repeated it in an interview Thursday morning with CNBC.
Clinton’s White House campaign hit back at the sensational remarks, branding them a “false claim”.
“This is another example of Donald Trump trash-talking the United States,” senior policy adviser Jake Sullivan said.
