A cemetery with 5 MILLION bodies is running out space due to the war with ISIS.
These astonishing images of the 10km2 Wadi al-Salam cemetery reveal the devastation Iraq has endured following decades of war.
Dubbed “Peace Valley”, the site has a special place in the hearts of Shi’ite Muslims as it surrounds the Mausoleum of their first imam, Ali Bin Abi Talib.
Talib was a cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Mohammad, but since his burial the cemetery has become the world’s largest.
Since the emergence of Islamic State, which overran a third of the country in 2014, 200 daily burials can typically take place.

200 daily burials can take place at the site since the rise of ISIS.
Before ISIS, no more than 80 would be carried out, Jihad Abu Saybi, a historian of the cemetery, said.
