Donald Trump is understood to have charged people $70,000 – around £54,000 – to have a photo with him at a campaign fundraiser at one of his hotels. For $100,000 (£77,000), guests could attend a private roundtable with the President of the United States.
But if you only wanted dinner at the event at the Trump International Hotel in Washington DC on Wednesday night, it was a snip at just $35,000 – or £27,000.
Washington Post White House reporter Josh Dawsey tweeted a photo of the event invitation which highlighted the large costs. The money will go towards Trump Victory, a joint fundraising committee for the president’s 2020 presidential campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC).
The price is higher than the typical campaign event, but is not unheard of. In 2016, then-Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton charged at least $100,000 per head for a fundraising dinner in Nebraska. Former President Obama in 2012 headlined fundraising events that cost upwards of $35,800 per person.
