
Many celebrities have taken more substantive roles in making a difference in leading the country. While some have dropped out of the race along the way, Weekend Magazine takes a look at those who made it to the polls.
Banky W
Thirty seven year old singer artiste and actor, Olubankole Wellington had towards the end of last year, declared his intention to run for the EtiOsa seat at the Lagos state House of Assembly under the Modern Democratic Party (MDP). Since then, he has campaigned heavily and many celebrities, including Davido and his wife AdesuaEtomi, have declared their support for him.
Shina Peller
The entertainment entrepreneur has also joined the political race for office. Peller will be contesting for the Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajola federal constituency seat in Oyo under the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Aquila records boss had been politically active fore while before taking the stance to contest.
Desmond Elliot
The retired actor is not a newbie in the political scape, after venturing into politics in 2015. He is currently seeking reelection to continue representing the Surulere constituency at the Lagos state House of Assembly under the umbrella of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Emeka Ike
Actor and former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Mr. Ike will be contesting for the Okigwe South constituency in the Imo state House of Assembly under the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
Freedom Atsepoyi
Popular comedian Mr. Jollof has also been busy campaigning for a seat in the state House of Assembly for the Warri constituency, Delta state under the African Action Congress (AAC).
