
Andy Ruiz Jr has become the first Mexican heavyweight champion after he defeated Anthony Joshua via a technical knockout in Round 7 at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
Joshua was knocked down four times in the match regarded as one of the biggest heavyweight upsets in history.


ANTHONY JOSHUA SPEAKS:
“Sorry I let my fans down, sorry I let my supporters down.
“Boxing’s a tough sport, I train hard, I stay dedicated, I just got beat by a good fighter tonight.
“Good luck to him, but I’ve gotta bounce back.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, [I want the rematch]. We’ll bounce back.”

ANDY RUIZ JR SPEAKS:
“I just wanna thank God for giving me this victory. I just feel so good.
“This is what I’ve been dreaming about, I can’t believe I just made my dreams come true.
“I just had to knock him down back. I’m a Mexican warrior, talking about the Mexican style, I just proved it.
“Of course [I want the rematch] but right now I wanna celebrate. I just made history for Mexico.”
