Facebook, which owns both Instagram and WhatsApp, has revealed that it is going to add ‘Facebook’ into their names.
They’re two of the most popular apps on both the Google Play Store and App Store, but WhatsApp and Instagram are about to be renamed.
Facebook, which owns the two platforms, has revealed that it is going to add ‘Facebook’ into their names.
This means that Instagram will soon be called ‘Instagram from Facebook’, while WhatsApp will become ‘WhatsApp from Facebook.’
The change was first reported by The Information , and has now been confirmed by Facebook itself.
A spokesperson said: “We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook.”
The new titles will appear in the apps’ listings on the App Store and Google Play Store, as well as on the apps themselves. It remains unclear when the change will be rolled out.
