First coronavirus patient dies in Europe, with more than 69,000 cases globally

The novel coronavirus has now infected more than 69,000 people globally, the vast majority in mainland China. The death toll is 1,669, including four people outside mainland China.

A Chinese tourist who tested positive for the virus died in France, health officials confirmed on Saturday.

The US is sending a plane to bring back some passengers from the Diamond Princess cruise ship, which has been quarantined in Japan for almost two weeks.
