Dethroned Sanusi ‘heads’ to court over banishment

Deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, on Tuesday, issued a 24-hour ultimatum for his release.

Sanusi’s lawyer, Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN), made this known during a press conference in his chamber.

Mahmoud said the Kano State Government would be sued if Sanusi was not released within 24 hours.

He, therefore, called on the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the Department of State Services, and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to ensure the immediate release of the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria.

Mahmoud described Sanusi’s detention as illegal and unconstitutional.
