Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has donated his former residence at the presidential hilltop, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, to be used as isolation centre for the coronavirus pandemic.
Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo’s media aide, announced this in a statement on Friday.
The facility, located off the Presidential Boulevard, Oke Sari, Abeokuta, has 32 rooms en suite, with a standby generator.
He said the 32-room facility has been handed over to the state government.
The aide said Obasanjo is concerned about the pandemic, adding that “those who can in one way or another assist in this situation should do so”.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Nigeria has recorded 81 cases of the disease.
