Meghan Markle Wears Sentimental Piece of Princess Diana’s Jewellery During Nigeria Trip

Prince Harry, the younger son of the late Princess Diana, remains committed to preserving his mother’s memory and legacy. One poignant way he does so is by sharing cherished pieces of Diana’s jewellery with his wife, Meghan Markle.

During their recent trip to Nigeria, Meghan was seen wearing a delicate diamond cross pendant on a gold chain—a necklace that once adorned Princess Diana. According to People magazine, the necklace was a recent gift from Harry to Meghan.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, currently spending time abroad without their two children, have been actively participating in engagements related to the Invictus Games and other charitable efforts. Notably, Harry played volleyball against wounded veterans during one of these events, though he faced defeat.

Meghan’s connection to her late mother-in-law extends beyond special occasions. Two of the diamonds in her tri-stone engagement ring also belonged to Diana. Harry thoughtfully incorporated these gems into the ring during his 2017 proposal, ensuring that his mother would be part of the momentous occasion.

Since marrying Harry, Meghan has consistently worn Diana’s jewellery. At their wedding reception, she donned an aquamarine cocktail ring that once belonged to her mother-in-law. The newlyweds made a public appearance, waving to admirers from their car, with the ring prominently displayed. Additionally, Meghan has been spotted wearing a Cartier watch favored by Diana. Her fashion choices often integrate colour schemes and subtle nods to the mother-in-law she never had the chance to meet. Some palace insiders even playfully refer to her as “Di 2.”

The birth of their second child, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, further underscores the couple’s commitment to family and legacy. Born in Santa Barbara, California, Lili is eighth in line to the British throne. The name pays tribute to both Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II (whose family nickname is Lilibet), and his late mother, Princess Diana.
