I Didn’t Make Any Money From ‘Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo’ Challenge – Brain Jotter

Comedian, Brain Jotter, has addressed the controversy surrounding the viral dance challenge he initiated using Mike Ejeagha’s 1983 hit song “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo”.

In a heartfelt video, Brain Jotter shared his emotional visit to Ejeagha’s home, where the legendary musician was brought to tears by the tribute.

Brain Jotter’s response comes amid concerns about potential exploitation and profiteering from Ejeagha’s song.

The skitmaker emphasised his appreciation for those who voiced concerns, affirming that he understands and shares their desire for Ejeagha to be celebrated and compensated for his decades of musical brilliance.

In a bid to clear the air, Brain Jotter revealed that he did not profit from the song, stating that “not a single dime was made” from the viral challenge.

He highlighted the positive outcome of the challenge, which has significantly increased the song’s streams on streaming platforms, with all revenues going directly to Ejeagha.

Brain Jotter also disclosed that he gave Ejeagha two million naira from his pocket, emphasizing that the gesture was a humanitarian act, not a profit-driven move.

He said: “For those who think we ripped him off or we’re making money from this whole thing, I understand your concerns and they are very valid. I appreciate the fact that you want him to get value for his hard work, which is very valid, and I want you to understand that you are doing something good

“At the end of the day, no dime was made from this song by me, nothing like that.

“The song increased its streams on streaming platforms massively, and there’s no way I can put the song on streaming platforms. So everything, all revenues, are going straight to Mike Ejeagha.

“The two million I gave him was from my pocket. My hard-earned money is just for humanity and not for profit. This whole thing is not for profit.”
