I Lost Myself After My Mother’s Death – Wizkid

Grammy-winning singer Wizkid has again mourned the loss of his mother, Mrs. Morayo Balogun, in his latest collaboration with Asake called “MMS.”

In his verse, Wizkid shares his emotional journey since his mother’s passing.

He revealed that he lost himself but found his purpose, singing about accepting his destiny and finding solace in his daily life despite the pain of his mother’s absence.

“You no fit run from who you are. Man, wetin go be, man, is cast in stone….When mama leave me, yeah, e no long. Lost myself and I found my purpose. Yeah, everyday, I know that I’m blessed… Nothing man no face, vibe today. This kind thing, say na life we dey,” he sings.

Recall that Wizkid’s mother passed away on August 18, 2023, in London, and he has been open about his grief, including a heartfelt tribute on her posthumous birthday.

Wizkid has announced a forthcoming album, ‘Morayo’, in honor of his late mother, showcasing his emotional connection to her memory.
