Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has shared her struggles with the demanding lifestyle of an artist.
She said despite her youthful age, she feels drained and “old” compared to others.
In a quick chat with Rode in Nairobi, Kenya, Ayra opened up on her hectic schedule, longing for rest and simplicity.
Speaking of her craft, she said she finds inspiration in the creative process, discovering her artistic path and purpose with each new song.
“I have met people who were born in the 90s and they’re so vibrant and so young. I’m old and I was just born in 2002.
“I want to stay home, I want to sleep.”
On what inspires her creative process, the singer said: “I feel like the more I make music, the more I recognise what my path is and what I’m trying to do”
The Grammy-nominated singer recently made history with her first-ever YouTube Live concert, which was streamed globally from Nairobi, Kenya.
The special event, produced in collaboration with Raha Fest, celebrates the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘The Year I Turned 21.’
