Why I Declined Davido’s Offer To Sign Me – CDQ

Rapper CDQ has claimed that Afrobeats star Davido once offered him a recording deal following the success of his breakthrough songs, ”Indomie’ and Nowo E Soke’.

However, he said the deal ultimately fell through due to a disagreement over the terms of the agreement.

Speaking in an interview on Echoo Room, CDQ said Davido reached out to him on Twitter, expressing interest in signing him to his record label.

According to him, Davido wanted to invest the profits from his African tour into CDQ’s career, with the goal of making him the biggest rapper in Africa.

CDQ said he insisted that his producer, Masterkraft, be involved in any deal, leading to a meeting between the three.

During the meeting, Masterkraft suggested a partnership between CDQ and Davido’s label instead of a traditional recording deal.

Masterkraft argued that CDQ had already built a significant following on the streets, and a partnership would be more beneficial.

However, Davido declined the proposal, and the potential deal came to an end.

CDQ said: “Davido reached out to me through Twitter back then that he wanted to sign me. He told me he just made a lot of money from his African tour and wanted to invest it in money and make me the biggest rapper in Africa.

“I told him whatever I’m doing, Masterkraft has to be involved. So, me and Masterkraft went to a meeting with him, and he told him that CDQ is already a movement on the streets and should consider a partnership instead of a recording deal but Davido decline and the deal fell through.”
