Liverpool Have Thrown Me Under The Bus, Now I’m Sitting On The Bench And I Don’t Know Why – Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah was unusually critical of Liverpool on Saturday night, accusing the club of scapegoating him after being left as an unused substitute in their chaotic 3-3 Premier League draw against Leeds United.

The Egyptian was a key figure in the club’s 2024/2025 Premier League triumph, raking up 29 goals and providing 18 assists.

However, he has struggled for appearances this current term.

Liverpool’s record goalscorer described his third consecutive benching as a betrayal, claiming the club had “thrown me under the bus” and broken promises made to him over the summer.

Salah blamed manager Arne Slot, saying their relationship had broken down while adding that “someone doesn’t want me in the club”.

The 33-year-old, who signed a fresh three-year deal at the end of last season, said the manager’s reason for benching him remains unknown.

Salah said, “I have done so much for this club down the years and especially last season.

“Now I’m sitting on the bench and I don’t know why.

“It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame.

“I got a lot of promises in the summer and so far I am on the bench for three games so I can’t say they keep the promise.

“I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden, we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club.”

He emphasised that his relationship with the manager has broken down.

“Yeah, there’s no relationship between us. It was a very good relationship and now all of a sudden there is no relationship,” Salah said.
