Why My Husband Can’t Have A Female ‘Bestie’ – Veekee James

Fashion designer Veekee James has established a clear boundary in her marriage, stating that her husband, Femi Atere, is not allowed to have a female best friend.

During a conversation on the Off the Top podcast with VJ Adams, James explained that she should be the closest woman to her husband, and this rule helps maintain peace in their home.

James emphasised that while she believes other men can have female best friends if their partners are comfortable with it, her husband is an exception. 

She said, “A man can have a female best friend but my man Femi Atere can never have a female best friend, I’m his only bestfriend. My brother can have a bestie if his wife allows it but my husband can never have a female bestie.”

The designer also opened up about facing harsh online comments, including accusations that she took Femi from someone, which affected her mental health. 

Veekee and Femi got engaged in late 2023 and were married on February 10, 2024.
