Nollywood Actor and one of the founders of Nollywood, Kenneth Okonkwo in December gathered so many awards.
Recently the Enugu State born Actor who is also a Lawyer sat down to talk about his December awards with Diamond Celebrities, and revealed his other awards.
Kenneth is understandable very excited. Here is what he told Delia Innoma.
My first and best award was given to me by God. You will agree with me that it takes God’s grace to be chosen out of million Nigerians to be the first actor Andy Okeke-that acted the first movie, Living in Bondage- that started Nollywood. This is a historical fact that makes you relevant at all times and I’m grateful to God for that.
In 2009 and 2011, I won the best African Actor award by Zulu African Film Academy Awards (ZAFAA) in United Kingdom. In all honesty, this space is not enough to talk on the awards.
I will mention some of the ones I received in the past one year, ‘A Meritorious Award of Professional Excellence’ by the Judicial Council of SUG, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Agboma Ndi Igbo Award by Mbido Igbo Association in conjunction with Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) in recognition of my immense contributions towards the development and promotion of the Great Igbo Culture and its Tourism Potentials to the World. A Pioneer Entertainer Award by Nsukka Local Government Council in recognition of my contribution towards the development of entertainment in Nigeria. An Entrepreneurship Award by Wisdom Foundation for Youth Development and so on… I thank God for using me as an instrument to touch people’s lives.
