Association of Film Video Producers/Marketers of Nigeria (AFVPMAN) the body marketing all the Nollywood Movies in Nigeria and the same body that banned 10 Nollywood Stars like Genevieve Nnaji, Omotala Jalade, Emeka Ike, Stella Damasus, Kenneth Okonkwo, Nkem Owoh, Ramsey Noah, Director Tchidi Chikere and others for One Year, At their office in Onitsha, Anambra State, few days ago agreed at their meeting to ban Mercy Johnson from January next year. This implies that no Marketer or Producer will be allowed to use her from January next year and any movie she appears in will not be sold in the market, Diamond Celebrities has exclusively learned.

Their reasons we heard are as follows:  That immediately Mercy came back from her Maternity Leave, she raised her Artist fee from N, 800/ N1 million which was her initial price to N1.5 Million and now she collects from 1.8 million to 2 million to shoot a movie after forcing the Producer or Marketer to buy gifts to see her new Baby.  Secondly she does not stay in hotels anymore; she now stays in an apartment when she comes for any Production.

According to our source they want to use her to set an example before hitting other Nollywood Stars. The Marketers, Lagos branch as we heard will do their own meeting this weekend to seal the ban, and trust me they will join the suit, the source said.

The association also lamented that because Mercy increased her fees, other artists started increasing theirs’ drastically too, saying “if you can pay Mercy 1.8million you can as well pay us 800 thousand Naira, if not let Mercy do the movie alone.”

Another source said that the annoying part is that if you don’t come to see her new baby with 100 thousand Naira, ‘there is no discussion for you’, meaning that you can’t book her for a job. They said she also selects people to work with like, I will not work with this director or this producer or shoot with this artiste because of one thing or the other.

We talked with one of the Nollywood Insider who do not wish his name to be mentioned, he told us he recalls the recent incident that happened on set, two production crew members were suspended from set because Mercy’s child was crying on set disturbing the movie shoot, one of the crew members told her P.A to shift a bit with the baby, but instead of going out with the baby the P.A slapped him, and they started fighting. Mercy stopped shooting for the day and commanded them to suspend the two boys otherwise she will not return to the set.

Well, we hope it’s not too late for her to make up with them. Mercy is really a great actress; we can’t help but love her!!!

Mercy and funke

Fuck dem marketers n producers, when u are not yet a celebrity they treat u like a piece of shit, so when u become a celebrity you treat them like a piece of shit. She makes the movies sell, they make millions, she deserves a share, she will not be their mugu forever. They are just giving her d opportunity to exploit other areas of movie making and take time to love her baby and her husband. Kudos Mercy. Baro
