ROBBERS STORM CHURCH FOR OFFERINGS AND TITHE

In a futile attempt to steal the offerings and tithe of a church in Queen Elizabeth Road, Ibadan, Vine Branch Church, the dare-devil robbers shot two policemen dead yesterday. The robbers were said to have mixed up with the congregation, after the collection of the offerings, the robbers in a miscalculated efforts confronted a banker who was in charge of the collections but found nothing on him. In frustration, the robbers reportedly shot into the air, thereby causing commotion in the well attended church. Two policemen in their van on guard outside the church were shot to death by the rampaging robbers while the police van driver escaped unhurt also one of the robbers was taken away by his gang with bullet wounds from the police shots. And in a bid to cover their tracks, the robbers made attempts to destroy the monitoring gadgets in the church. DSP Olabisi Ilobanafor who is the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Police Command, confirmed the incident, “The command lost two of his men in the attack,” he said.
