Use missing $20bn to provide electricity – Fashola

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola has told the Federal Government to recover the missing $20bn and use the money to provide 20,000 megawatts of electricity.

Fashola said this on Thursday during the inauguration of Addo – Kekere, Lagbasa and Ajah Badore roads in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

The governor wondered why it was taking the Federal Government a long time to recover the money that could solve the problem of electricity permanently in the country.

He said, “If the Federal Government finds the missing $20bn, we will have constant power supply. I know that if we have $1bn, we will have 1,000 megawatts of electricity in the country. So $20bn is equivalent to 20,000 megawatts.”

Fashola also urged Lagosians to be vigilant and cooperate with relevant agencies to keep the state safe. He added that security had been beefed up in motor parks across the state.

Fashola said, “This is holiday period, we have to be vigilant. I know a larger per cent of residents of Lagos will be travelling out of the state to celebrate the Easter with their relatives. Others will also be coming into the state.

“I have met with the leaders of the motor parks in the state and we will improve security in motor parks and other public facilities.

“These are difficult times; it is tough and sensible people that survive. Every family and community go through some tough times. And I know that we are tough people and we will survive.

“It is not enough to be tough, we have to be vigilant, sensible and security conscious. We are doing everything that we can to ensure that there is adequate security in the state.”

He urged the residents to continue to live in peaceful coexistence.

No one is perfect, but God expects perfection from us.Governor Fashola of Lagos state is making sense, common sense they say,is not common. However he has made tremendous impact in Lagos, though people say he relaxed in his second term.In all fairness to him we need people like Fashola in Aso rock villa
